What is one of your key items for this upcoming Holiday/Resort 2011-12 season?

Our Bloom Collection features real orchid flowers that have been preserved in resin. It is stunning, especially for the Holiday/Resort season. We’ve recently added the Bloom long necklace made of Chinese crystals, natural stones, and the orchid specimens. It’s an easy to wear slip-on style with a little bit of sparkle and a lot of presence.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Inspiration for Tweak jewelry comes from all over. I find the colours and patterns of the natural stones we use to be most inspiring. I never cease to be amazed by the variety and intricacy of natural stones. I love a hint of the unexpected, so I am always paying attention to unique colour combinations and odd juxtapositions in all aspects of life.

How do you start the design process when creating a new collection?

The process can start anywhere. Sometimes I find a new element that I want to build a collection around or sometimes I just want to fill a void in our current collection; it may even begin with requests from customers. I start in the studio with an idea and just play around with beads and other findings. When the piece requires custom-made elements, I usually sketch first. My design process is quite free and easy.

What do you think will draw retailers to your collection this upcoming season?

Tweak accessories are all handmade. If a retailer chooses a necklace style and a colour scheme, we will make as many one-of-a-kind pieces as they want. When the retailer sells a Tweak piece, they can honestly tell their customer that no one else will have the same necklace. Also, if our customer wants, we include a tag with the specific stones and elements used in each piece. We find it’s a touch that adds value and makes the consumer feel that their piece is as special as it really is!

If you could dress a celebrity, who you feel fits your product image, who would it be and why?

There are pieces from our collection that I can see on so many people, both young and old. I’d love to put a necklace on Michelle Obama because I find her style so classy and accessible. I also think our hooked necklace would look great with an easy breezy casual look on Hayden Panettiere. Our collection is so eclectic that I feel I could find something that fits almost anyone’s style; it’s one of my goals when I design.
