Where do you draw inspiration from? I am surrounded with various sources of inspiration like nature, pastoral landscapes, art events, galleries all around Europe and movies. My favorite period is the 60’s; I always try to capture the glamorous chic and elegance of that era.
What is one of your key items for this upcoming 2011 Fall/Winter season? For this Fall/Winter season, we have used new materials to create style, comfort and warmth. Combining various textures such as fur and fabric will be our key concept for this season. Also, the major theme of our wool collection this year is “Wild Nature”.
How do you start the design process when creating a new collection? It starts with choosing the theme and materials. For example, our Summer 2011 collection’s title is DOLCI and the theme is “the fruit cocktail”. It feels wonderfully sweet and refreshing after a long and cold winter. We used natural and light weight materials in sweet and cool colors for this collection. You will see lots of fruity and joyful touches on our hats from this summer collection.
What do you think will draw retailers to your collection this upcoming season? What makes our hat collection special in this market is our unique and extraordinary designs, which are made using top of the line materials offered at very reasonable prices. Retailers will be drawn to the variety of our collection, ranging from extravagant and elegant velour pieces to soft and comfortably casual fabric hats.
What changes have you noticed in retail over the last year? I have noticed that customers started to pay more attention to the quality and uniqueness of the products. I think that people are tired of the mass produced items of the global economy. Actually, this new consumer awareness has made us even more distinguished in the market. When you offer people something unique and fresh, they like it.
If you could dress a celebrity, who you feel fits your product image, who would it be and why? I would be delighted to make something for Mrs. Michelle Obama. I have also worked with Lisa Vershbow, the jewelry designer from United States; it was a very interesting and exciting experience. She is a very outgoing, creative and charismatic person.
What 3 items are essential to you during market week? Good mood, nice weather and no traffic jams on my way.
