What is one of your key items for this upcoming Holiday/Resort 2011-12 season?
Our line consists of necklaces, bracelets, rings and earrings with natural stones, metals and leather. All our products are made of organic figures and include boldcolor combinations. I am always looking for originality to create pieces that areunique and different.
Where do you draw inspiration from?
The collection is always based on fashion trends. My country has a rich visual culture and very diverse places that I can nurture every day to create timeless but daring collections. I use this inspiration to make pieces that can be worn by women of different ages and cultures who appreciate fashion.
How do you start the design process when creating a new collection?
I look for an interesting topic where I can take a range of ideas to research andthen start to plan on paper. I begin working with metal and change it to finallycreate a piece that is most interesting. That creativity is applied from start to finish and what initially begins as a bracelet may end up as a necklace and vice versa.
What do you think will draw retailers to your collection this upcoming season?
Our customers are always eager to buy our pieces. I hope the surprise factor is what drives them to continue to shop our collection.
What changes have you noticed in retail over the last year?
Customers help us to improve every day. As they seek to be experts in fashion, there is a greater demand on us to meet their needs.
If you could dress a celebrity who you feel fits your product image, who would it be?
Some celebrities that I would love to dress are: Eva Longoria, Jennifer Lopez, Cameron Diaz, Madonna, Rihanna, Beyonce, Kim Kardashian and Gwen Stefani.
What three items are essential to you during market week?
Three items that are essential to me during market week are: spectacular ringsthat you know you can’t leave home without, bracelets that draw attention and you are stopped in the street by someone telling you how amazing they are, and necklaces you love so much that you buy clothes to match rather than the necklace to complement the clothes.
