Designer / Owner
What do you consider to be the world’s best fashion city?
New York because the concentration of creative talent is second to none.
How do you personally stay up-to-date with fashion?
I stay up-to-date mainly through conversations and creative sessions with our staff and industry players.
What is your brand doing to address the growing importance of social media and how has it impacted your business?
We are growing so quickly that we are finding that social media finds us. We don’t make deliberate efforts to participate. However, we have found that social media has fostered intimate relationships with many of our customers. We have more long distance relationships that we are able to nurture.
What’s one staple accessory that you think every woman should own?
A pair of classic earrings that compliments a classic white oxford button down shirt.
Where does your main source of inspiration come from when designing a new collection?
My main source of inspiration this season is very much influenced by iconic figures of the 50s and 60s. It was a time when the world was breaking out and there was a freedom in the air because the world was changing. It is this characteristic we are trying to capture.
Describe your Fall/Winter 2013 collection.
The collection is raw and ready. We are down to the bare essentials of what it takes to make our designs work. We keep it simple to make the design stand out yet the collection is extravagant, elegant and visually elaborate. We are looking to add to everyone’s favorites.
Do you try to keep with the trends or create your own?
I do keep with the trends but tend to avoid the typically beaten path. We see designs in magazines from the big names that we have done years ago. We feel we burn our own path – it is where we find our joy.
