How do you personally stay up-to-date with fashion?

I am constantly scanning the internet and reading trend reports.


Do you try to keep with the trends or create your own?

I keep a good eye on current trends, especially silhouettes, but at the same time I make sure my creativity and interpretation is expressed in the design. I feel like sometimes my styles are “born” too early. When this happens and it is a style I really love, I show it again during the following season; the second time around they can make the connection with retailers that I was looking for.


What’s one staple accessory that you think every woman should own?

A great pair of boots!


Describe your Fall/Winter 2013 collection.

I love our new Fall/Winter collection; we have a great selection of flats and boots! All of the leathers are beautiful and give that special finish to each of the styles. We also have subtle, unique details that make Klub Nico distinctive.


Where does your main source of inspiration come from when designing a new collection?

I only design shoes that I personally would wear. I like to do styles that are unique and have unexpected details but are chic, classic and relevant for years to come. I am inspired by life and my immediate surroundings such as nature, art and furniture.


What do you consider to be the world’s best fashion city?

I love the style and fashion of the men and women in Rio de Janeiro. There are a lot of mainstream international designers as well as Brazilian designers. The “Cariocas” know how to interpret these designs into their own unique style that is effortless and very sexy.


What is your brand doing to address the growing importance of social media and how has it impacted your business?

We are actively growing our social media actions and presence. It has increased our brand awareness and has exposed us to consumers who may not have found us through current distribution channels.
