What’s your favorite part about conceptualizing a new design?
Once I am inspired with a creative idea, I like nothing more than pushing through my current boundaries and exploring new artistic territory. I become enlivened by new materials and how ideas take form. Then, the quirks of creation add that unique quality that gives life to each piece.
How do you personally stay up-to-date with fashion?
Fashion has become my life in so many ways. We are now represented in many countries and I travel to exciting fashion centers around the world. Presenting our designs at the best fashion trade shows in Paris, Berlin, Tokyo, New York, Moscow, and Copenhagen keeps staying up-to-date a wonderful part of a lifestyle that I’ve come to enjoy very much.
What do you think will draw retailers to your collection this upcoming season?
Curiosity! My new collection is fresh from the woods of Sweden. Ferns, violets, maple leaves, and acorns appear in silver and antique finished brass accented by labradorite stones and butterflies. The delicate textures and shapes of nature appeal to everyone.
Who or what has been your greatest fashion influence?
The greatest influence for me is seeing how people choose to express their own sense of beauty with our jewelry. It is both satisfying and inspiring at same time! I am particularly inspired and greatly influenced by women who reach for the stars. Most recently, we’ve begun collaborating with two women in the music world who do just that. Grammy-nominated American singer Melody Gardot and Swedish singer-songwriter Laleh bring strong convictions to their art along with sky-high aspirations. Seeing them wear our jewelry puts our pieces into the broad and colorful context of world-class music and cultural fashion. This, in turn, amplifies my own desire to always reach for the stars.
